The Indiana Area School District has been named a Great Pennsylvania School.
The designation recognizes Pennsylvania public schools that provide rigorous academic programs, are active in their communities, and demonstrate financial health and resilience.
To qualify, districts must meet standards including having certified teachers, offering advanced and career-focused programs, providing mental health support and maintaining sound financial practices.
School board president Dr. Sally McCombie says the recognition reflects the dedication of district employees, students and community partners.
The designation was awarded for July. IASD joins two Heritage Conference school districts in recently receiving the designation: Homer-Center (May 2026) and Conemaugh Township (July 2026).
