The WPIAL has announced it will no longer use the “Week Zero” designation.
It was changed 10 years ago to allow teams to either play the first game of the regular season or a second pre-season scrimmage. In recent years, many teams are opting to instead put another non-conference game under their belts instead of finding teams that are willing to do a second scrimmage.
