Homer-Center officials say more time is needed to remediate the mold found at the elementary building.
In an update posted on the district’s website, Superintendent Ralph Cecere said that additional days are needed for crews to clean and test the classrooms to make sure that everything is safe for students to return. To that end, elementary students will not return to class on Tuesday, September 1st , More information is expected to be released as the cleaning company provides guidance to the district.
In his video comments, Superintendent Ralph Cecere said that the further delay will not affect the students at the secondary grade level.
He added that September 4th, an originally scheduled day off, will have classes as part of the effort to make up for the missed days at the start of the year.
Parents of elementary students will get a two-day notice regarding the day of return, and if classes for elementary students do start next week, there will be class on September 4th for them as well.
