A Baltimore man is scheduled to be sentenced today in connection with a stabbing in Indiana Borough in January.
Court documents show 31-year-old Detrolen Hobbs will go before Indiana County President Judge Thomas Bianco this morning. He was charged in connection with an incident on January 21st where he stabbed a woman while she was working as a care giver at a home in the 1100 block of Oak Street. Police say he met the woman online and travelled to meet her but became abusive towards her and on the night of the incident, called her multiple times after she left for work. Hobbs then broke into the home and stabbed the victim while she was providing care. Citizens’ Ambulance, Indiana Borough and IUP police were able to respond quickly and saved her.
In June, Hobbs pleaded guilty to attempted criminal homicide, aggravated assault-attempt to cause serious bodily injury, burglary and possession of an instrument of crime.
Also due for sentencing today is Chase Mansfield of Indiana. He is due for sentencing for five separate incidents where he entered guilty pleas. This includes guilty pleas to two counts of making terroristic threats during the Indiana Borough St. Patrick’s Day parade. Witnesses told police that Mansfield told them that he was going to “shoot up the parade”. He was found in the 600 block of Philadelphia Street, and police immediately took him into custody.
Among the charges in the four other cases are receiving stolen property, criminal trespass, reckless burning or exploding, theft and criminal mischief.
