Edward Clair Platt, Sr., 81, of Blairsville, PA, went home to be with his Savior on Monday, September 7, 2026, at home, surrounded by the love of his family.
The son of William Winfred Platt, Sr. and Marcella May (Snyder) Platt, he was born on June 18, 1945, in Burrell Township, Indiana County, PA.
A man of deep faith, Ed attended and faithfully served for many years at the Assembly of God in Blairsville and was of the Pentecostal faith.
Ed was employed by Pace Industries LLC until his retirement and worked as a self-employed mechanic.
Ed found joy in sharing Christ with others and took comfort in listening to Jimmy Swaggart’s singing and preaching. He loved the outdoors and treasured the time he spent sharing that love with his family. Hunting and fishing brought him great happiness, especially his memorable trips to Colorado.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Marjorie A. (Cornman) Platt whom he married on August 7, 1964; six children, Edward C. Platt, Jr. (Becky) of Blairsville, Kelly A. Newell of Blairsville, William J. Platt (Rebecca) of Blairsville, Lucas R. Platt (Robyn) of Blairsville, Amy M. Broglin (John) of Mountain Top, and Rebecca J. Zona (Anthony) of Blairsville; 16 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Bill, Ralph, John and James, and two sisters, Mary Fritz and Adelaide McConnell.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 10, 2026, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Friday, September 11th at 11 AM with Pastors Chad Fritz and John Broglin officiating.
Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
