For the third straight year, the Indiana University of Pennsylvania is reporting an increase in enrollment numbers.
An increase of 48 students was seen in the total enrollment numbers, which includes undergraduate, graduate and career prep program participants, bringing the total to 9,130. It was 9,082 last year and two years ago, that number was at 9.081. As part of that, the Fall 2026 persistence rate, which measures the number of students that started in 2024 and have remained at the university for a third year of study, is at 70%, which is the highest since 2015. The one-year retention rate held steady at 75%. There are 1,869 new, first-time students enrolled for fall 2026, an increase of 116 students in that category from fall 2025. Overall, from fall 2024 to fall 2026, the number of new, first-year degree seeking students increased 12 percent.
There are 651 veteran and military-affiliated students enrolled for fall 2026. Of this number, 546 veteran or military-affiliated students are in undergraduate programs, 68 in graduate programs, and 37 in career-preparation programs. There are also 133 students in the dual-enrollment program that allows students to earn college credit by taking IUP classes while still in high school.
