A post-conviction relief act hearing is scheduled today for a man charged with killing a fellow inmate in 2010.
The hearing is for William Brown of Delaware County. He was convicted in December of 2010 on charges of first-degree murder and aggravated assault for the incident on February 28th of that year where he killed another SCI Pine Grove inmate, Jayson Stewart of Arnold. During the trial, Danielle Rockey of Emporium testified that she received a letter from Stewart the day before he was killed, asking her to pay off debts owed to fellow prisoners, including $30 that was to be given to Brown. Brown reportedly suffocated Stewart after an unsuccessful attempt to kill him.
This marks the second attempt at a post-conviction relief act hearing as the one scheduled for late September was postponed. The hearing will be held in front of county judge Michael Clark.
