Steelers NFL Hall of Famer and former Penn State great Jack Ham was hospitalized yesterday in Seattle when he suffered a medical emergency as he exited the Penn State team bus prior to the game against the University of Washington.
Ham, who was with the team as part of the broadcast crew, was immediately attended to by play-by-play man Steve Jones, and Washington team medical personnel rushed to his aid. Penn State coach Matt Campbell praised the work of Jones, indicating that Ham might not have survived without it.
The nature of the incident was not disclosed. The 77-year-old Johnstown native, a Bishop McCort graduate, is listed in stable condition.
Penn State dedicated its 28-25 win to Ham.
