Thursday night, the River Valley School Board approved four contracts for the construction of the fieldhouse, concession stand and restrooms at the new stadium.
The general contract went to Clawson Construction and Metal Buildings for $3,244,285, the mechanical contract went to Hranec Sheet Metal at a cost of $414,900. The electrical work will be handled by Mashan, Inc. for $692,000 and the plumbing by Anderson Plumbing for $398,697. Board President Rick Harper said during the meeting that when the project with all the wishes for the building were in place, its projected cost was over $11 million, and after stripping the project down to the bare essentials, it was still around $7 million.
Board Vice President Connie Constantino talked about some of the “wish list” items that were able to be included thanks to the savings.
Harper said that the project must be complete by August 1st.
