Latest Tonight/Monday Winter Storm Update
No expansion was needed in our Warning/Advisory products this evening as the storm track has shifted slightly south. The result of this is to slightly increase snow totals in northern WV (lower chances for sleet/freezing rain) and to decrease totals slightly across the Pittsburgh Metro as the sharp snowfall gradient is nudged south.
Timing has not changed. Snow begins south of Pittsburgh later tonight, and north of Pittsburgh early tomorrow morning. Heaviest snow is expected overnight through mid-morning Monday, with moderate snow quickly ending from North to South. Snow will linger longest in the Allegheny Mountains.
Also of note, once snow from this system ends, our winds become northwesterly. That will allow on and off lake effect/enhanced snow showers beginning Monday night through much of the week. Additional light accumulations are expected, with highest totals north of Pittsburgh and in the mountains.
