Three people facing animal cruelty charges will have preliminary hearings today in Indiana County Court.
25-year-old Zachary Yeager of Jeannette, 23-year-old Krista Yeager of Homer City and 21-year-old Lailonie Dallas, who is listed as homeless, were charged with aggravated animal cruelty-torture for an investigation that started November 2nd. Borough police were called out to the “00” block of North 2nd Street. They were informed that a deceased dog had showed signs of neglect, and during an initial investigation, two additional dogs showed similar signs. The two dogs were taken into proper care after the investigation was over.
Dallas faces two counts of torture, while the Yeagers face one count each. The preliminary hearing will be held in front of District Judge Tony Sottile.
Also facing a preliminary hearing today is a Pittsburgh man charged with simple assault for an incident on September 21st.
Indiana Borough Police charged 20-year-old Dylan Michael Schlagel. It was initially reported that two men were involved in a fight. Later reports said one man sustained a puncture wound to his lower back. IUP Police, State Police, Citizen’s Ambulance and the Indiana County DA’s office assisted in the investigation.
This hearing will be held before District Judge Tony Sottile this afternoon.
