The Pensnsylvania Department of State is reporting the highest statewide voter turnout since 1992.
During the 2024 presidential election, the department reported that 77.1 percent of registered voters cast a ballot. The department also stated 68.5 percent of the state’s voting age population took part in the election. By comparison, in 1992 when Bill Clinton ran against the elder George Bush for president, 82.8 percent of registered Pennsylvania voters cast a ballot. That same year, 54.3 percent of Pennsylvania’s voting-age population took part in the election.
Secretary of the Commonwealth Al Schmidt said that the high level of voter turnout was “a testament to the voter education work done in 2024 done by the Shapiro Administration, county election officials across all 67 Pennsylvania counties, candidate campaigns and nonprofit organizations.”
He also mentioned that 35 counties also saw turnout among registered voters went above 80 percent. That included Indiana County, where official voter turnout was 81.7 percent.
