BOYS BASKETBALL
United got back to action after a ten-day layoff and beat Punxsutawney 54-42. Dmitri Worthington led the way with 14 points and Ryan Felix added 13. Carter Payne returned from an injury hiatus and scored 6 points for the Lions.
WPIAL
The WPIAL set its playoff brackets yesterday. The 17th-seeded Indiana boys will open with a 5A preliminary round game Thursday night at number 16 Franklin Regional. The winner plays next Tuesday at top seed Montour.
The number 7 Indiana girls will host a first-round game against 10th seeded Moon on Friday, with the winner to play next Wednesday against the winner of number 2 Peters Township and number 15 Fox Chapel.
HOCKEY
Four players scored goals as Indiana beat Butler 4-1 last night at Frozen pond Arena in Butler. Gabe Nettleton and Ryan Bell scored first period goals and Matt Stone and Tyler Yount scored in the second, Stone on a power play, as Indiana jumped to a 4-0 lead. Bell had a three-point night, with two assists, and Stone and Brady Oakes both had two points. Luke Rowe made 29 saves in goal.
Indiana is 9-6 and in sixth place in the Varsity A Blue division of the PIHL.
