On February 24, 2025, Jeannette Marie Turton, age 86 years, died from heart failure complicated by Alzheimer’s Disease. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, she was raised by her loving parents, Anthony and Marie (Calvitti) Camino, now deceased.
In 1960, after she graduated from Notre Dame College in South Euclid, Ohio. She began her career as a junior high teacher of history and geography.
She married Lawrence Turton in 1962 and settled in Mayfield, Ohio. However, shortly after becoming pregnant, she was dismissed from teaching due to the chauvinistic laws that punished pregnant teachers.
She ultimately bore four children: Michael (Ging Dialo) who lives in the Philippines; Terece who live in Los Alamos, New Mexico; Katherine who lives in Indiana, PA; and Deborah (Les) who live in Damascus, MD.
Those four children gave her 7 grandchildren: Gwendolyn, Bernadette (Thomas Rimlinger), Cynthia, Sebastian (Fatima Vista). Sheridan, Daniel and Meaghan. These grandchildren gave her much joy and pleasure because they are all kind, sociable and respectful. She loved these characteristics more than their professional accomplishments. Finally, she managed to live long enough to meet her first great-grandchild, Felix Isaac Rimlinger.
Jeannette is survived by a brother, Nicholas (Barbara) of Avon Lake, Ohio and by numerous nieces and nephews from her extended family and that of her husband.
Her professional career was revitalized after completing a master’s degree in early childhood education. She went on to work at the University of Michigan with severely, multiple handicapped children. Following that she completed advanced work in special education at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
She ended her career as a case worker for the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare.
