A garage in Plumcreek Township, Armstrong County was destroyed by a fire early Wednesday morning.
Firefighters from Elderton, Kittanning, Rural Valley, Indiana, Plumville, Creekside, and Iselin/West Lebanon were dispatched along with Citizens’ Ambulance to a 35-by-50 foot garage along Barks Hill Road shortly after 8 o’clock. Tunnelton and Marion Center crews were called for standby detail a few minutes later.
Chip Nicewonger with the Elderton Fire Department said flames were seen coming out of the roof once crews arrived, and a portion of the garage was collapsed as well.
Nicewonger added that extra manpower was needed as Elderton firefighters responded to two vehicle accidents before the fire was called in.
The garage was deemed a total loss. No injuries were reported, but a tri-axle dump truck was destroyed, along with a farm tractor, and several tires and tools. No one was hurt and crews were on-scene for approximately three-and-a-half hours.
State police fire marshals were called in to investigate the cause.
