Bailey Falter threw two scoreless innings in his first appearance of the spring, walking the first batter he faced and retiring the next six, with three strikeouts. Matt Gorski hit a two-run home run, his third of the Grapefruit League season, and Tommy Pham and Henry Davis each had two hits in the win over the Orioles.
Manager Derek Shelton was impressed with Falter’s pitch command.
Falter is focusing on his breaking stuff this spring, hoping they can become setup pitches for his fastball.
In the loss to the Braves, Joshua Palacios and DJ Stewart each had two hits and Jack Suwinski hit his first home run. Mike Burrows gave up two runs in two innings.
Caleb Ferguson makes his second appearance of the spring this afternoon, starting against the Twins in Fort Myers.
