River Valley School District will be the first school district in the nation to receive a $1 million grant from the Nationwide AI Grant Initiative.
The program is dedicated to improving instructional practices, enhance teacher effectiveness and foster student success. As part of the grant, River Valley will receive access to an AI-supported instructional platform called Yourway. The money from the grant comes from the Bezos Foundation.
River Valley School Board President Rick Harper said that the money will provide equipment and cover the cost of training. The program is expected to start next year. He said he thought the district would be in the top ten, but was proud being first. He said that innovation remains key with the district.
In a statement, Yourway Learning Vice President of Client Success and Operations Kate Schuster said they were excited for the district, adding that “district leadership has a bold and thoughtful vision for how AI can enhance instructional design and support more personalized learning.”
