Indiana Regional Medical Center has changed their visitor policy once again as concerns grow over covid-19.
The main change to the policy is that visitors are not permitted at the hospital except for certain circumstances:
- For those being served in the pediatric department, one visitor per pediatric patient is allowed, and the visitor can be only a parent, guardian or family care partner. The designated visitor should remain the same for the course of admission and must pass a health screening.
 - In the obstetric department, one visitor is permitted and must be the only visitor for the course of admission, and must pass a health screening.
 - In extenuating circumstances, such as imminent end-of-life, temporary visitation may be granted.
 - If the visitor is a child in the Emergency Department, only one visitor is allowed. They have to be a parent, guardian or caregiver only and must pass a health screening.

For those undergoing surgical proceedures:
- All elective proceedures are to be scheduled eight weeks out or longer, unless that presents some harm to the patient.
 - Any procedures that are scheduled for next week and beyond will also be cancelled and rescheduled for eight weeks out, unless that delay presents some harm to the patient.
 - Elective procedures that need to be done will be done at the department’s discretion.
 - Emergency procedures will still be performed at IRMC

The outpatient and physician offices will remain open for now, but they are exploring tele-medicine options and leaving it up to the physician’s discretion. If it is an acute visit, it is seen as a necessary visit, and this would include a referral to a specialist. Routine and wellness visits will either be rescheduled or kept on a case-by-case basis.
IRMC encourages people to use video chat platforms like Skype, Facetime, or just making a call to keep in touch with loved ones in the hospital.
