Evelyn Margaret (Wagener) Steele, 93, of Indiana, died Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at the Communities at Indian Haven. Born January 1, 1932 in Grant Twp., Indiana County, she was a daughter of the late John Wagener, Sr. and Olive (Buterbaugh) Wagener. She was the widow of Earl Richard Steele who died April 30, 2020.
She was an exceptional artist who painted many beautiful oil paintings. Evelyn retired from Season All Industries in 1988 following 23 years of employment.
Her Christian faith was an important part of her life. She was a member of the Independent Traditional Holiness Church in Indiana where she sang in the church choir and played the organ.
Evelyn was the last surviving member of her family. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Wagener, Jr. and by several nieces and nephews.
She is lovingly remembered by her friends and neighbors.
Visitation will be Friday, May 9, 2025 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, the time of her funeral service, at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home & Crematory, 965 Phila. St., Indiana. Pastor Randy Perry will officiate. Interment will be at Oakland Cemetery, Indiana.
