Officials with the Indiana Regional Medical Center have released a statement after the nurses’ union announced a new three-year agreement was ratified.
The Indiana Registered Nurses Association, represented by the Pennsylvania State Allied Nurses and Allied Professionals, made the announcement late last night, saying the new contract will include a wage schedule tied to retention, along with new staffing language that prohibits nurses from being pulled into areas they were not trained or have experience for, allow for the union to be represented on the hospital’s safety committee, and notable changes for paid time off, vacations and shift cancellations. It is a three-year agreement that was approved by 98% of the union’s members.
Hospital officials say that the new agreement maintains their commitment to fiscal responsibility, continues a long-term commitment to providing market-competitive compensation and benefits, and includes new opportunities for greater collaboration between management and staff. They also agree with the union president Christa Rounsley that this will put them in a strong position to attract potential new nurses.
