Officials with the State Police and the PA Turnpike are anticipating a lot of traffic on the state’s roads this weekend for Memorial Day.
From Friday to Monday, Turnpike officials project over two million drivers will hit the road to celebrate Memorial Day. That’s an increase of almost 3% from last year. Construction and maintenance on the turnpike will be suspended starting Thursday afternoon in an effort to reduce traffic delays.
State police will be out in full force for the holiday weekend starting Friday, with the special detail ending Monday, May 26th. Members of Troop A, which covers most of Indiana and Westmoreland Counties as part of its service area, will be specifically watching for aggressive, distracted and intoxicated motorists. They remind you to buckle up and to celebrate responsibly.
