The Altoona Curve kicked off their series with the Portland Sea Dogs with a 4-2 victory. Nick Cimillo hit his second homer of the season, a solo shot in the seventh inning off Sea Dogs reliever Jonathan Brand. The Curve were able to score three off starter Blake Wehunt over the first six innings. It was a bullpen day for Altoona’s pitching, and they did very well, with Blake Townshend picking up the win with three innings of work. Sean Sullivan did not allow a baserunner in his two innings on the mound. The save went to Cam Sanders.
The Curve and the Sea Dogs will play again tonight. Altoona will send Allesandro Ercolani to the mound to start against Dalton Rogers for Portland.
Speaking of the Curve, there were some roster moves made before yesterday’s game. Righ-handed pitcher Po-Yu Chen and infielder Mike Jarvis were promoted to AAA Indianapolis, while left-handed pitcher Blake Townshend was promoted from Greensboro to Altoona. Indianapolis returns to action today against Nashville.
