Four fire departments were sent to a garage fire yesterday in Rayne Township.
Indiana, Marion Center, Clymer and Creekside fire departments were sent out at 11:15 yesterday morning for what was initially reported as a commercial structure fire, but turned out to be a three-bay garage on a residential property on Route 119 in Rayne Township. Indiana fire officials said the fire did not endanger any other structures, but the building was fully involved when crews arrived. Crews had to run their supply hose from the bottom of the driveway up the hill to the scene.
Firefighters quickly knocked down most of the fire but took their time overhauling the contents of the garage and looking for hotspots. Crews were on scene for a little over two hours.
No injuries were reported in the fire. The building and its contents were a total loss. Fire officials believe it was accidental and electrical in nature.
