Bertha B. (Madey) Lucas, 88, of Indiana, passed away on Monday, June 2, 2025, in Heritage Grove at Indiana. She was born in Indiana to the late Stanley and Stella Ann (Flack) Madey on October 20, 1936. She worked as a CNA in Torrance State Hospital before her retirement.
She was of the Catholic faith; she was a wonderful cook and loved to bake. She enjoyed word puzzles, games and gardening. Bertha was very family-oriented, loving to spend time with her family and was always there to help. She was a very loving mother and a devoted wife.
Surviving Bertha is her daughter Janet Lucas Grove of Latrobe, eight grandchildren, Rob, David, Mark, Kelli, Tom, Christine, Nicole and Nathan and twelve great grandchildren, son-in-law’s Raymond Donahue and Charles Peach, brothers Edward (Terry), William (Pauline) and Richard (Darlene) Madey.
Besides her parents, Bertha is preceded in death by her husband Robert J. Lucas in 2023, two daughters Debbie Donahue and Cindy Peach, brothers Joseph, Stanley and Bernard Madey, as well as two sisters Helen Abramczyk and Lottie Pividori.
Friends will be received by the family on Monday, June 9, 2025, from 11:00 AM until the time of a Blessing Service at 12:00 Noon with Deacon Steve Black as celebrant. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Shelocta.
Bertha’s family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff of Heritage Grove and ViaQuest Hospice, for the care that was given to her over the last several years.
