State police confirmed that one person was killed in an accident on Saturday in Washington Township.
First responders were dispatched at 3:31 PM to the intersection of Route 85 and Five Points Road. Michael Johnson, an 80-year-old man from Home, failed to stop his car at a stop sign while going north on Five Points Road onto Route 85 and collided with another car driven by 18-year-old Kolt Pritt of Plumville in the eastbound lane of 85. After impact, both cars went off the westbound shoulder of 85.
A passenger in Johnson’s car, 79-year-old Mary Johnson, was life-flighted to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center and died as a result of her injuries. Michael Johnson was taken to IRMC and then to Conemaugh Memorial for treatment of minor injuries. Pritt also had minor injuries and was taken to IRMC. A teenaged passenger in Pritt’s vehicle was not injured. Everyone except the teen passenger was wearing a seatbelt at the time.
