Penguins president of hockey operations Kyle Dubas said he wouldn’t be pursuing high-priced players when free agency began yesterday, but he was still very actively in the marketplace.
The Pens traded backup goaltender Alex Ndeljkovic to San Jose for a 2028 third round draft choice. Then Dubas signed returning forward Philip Thomasino and defenseman Connor Dewar to one-year contracts.
Dubas also signed three free agents to two-year deals. Forward Justin Brazeau played for the Bruins and Wild last season. Defenseman Caleb Jones comes from the LA Kings. And veteran defenseman Parker Wotherspoon played the last two seasons with the Bruins after eight years in the Islanders’ system.
