S.W. Jack stumbled out of the gate, trailing Armstrong 5-0 after two innings, but they fought back, scoring two runs in the third inning, three in the fourth, and two in the fifth on the way to a 7-6 win that clinched the Drillers’ third straight Youth Legion championship.
S.W. Jack took advantage of thirteen walks by Armstrong pitchers and won despite being outhit, 8-4, and despite committing five errors. Brady Oakes earned the win, throwing the final four-and-two-thirds innings in relief and gave up one run on three hits and a walk, striking out eight.
Ben Cowburn, Jamison Miller, Oakes, and Chace Force had the Drillers’ hits and Riley George drew three walks. Armstrong’s Kaden Rupp had three hits and Eli Morrow had two.
