There will be a Memorial Service for William (Bill) R. Hill at the Brush Valley Chapel in Brush Valley, PA, Saturday, July 26, 2025 at 11:00 am.

Born April 6, 1941 in Brush Valley, William is a graduate of United High School and former president of the Indiana County 4H. He passed away May 27, 2025 at his home in Hubbard, Ohio at the age of 84.

Raising Property Taxes

For a variety of reasons, many school districts are raising property taxes this year.  What’s to blame?

Inflation overall. Everything is more expensive, including running schools.
The state does not provide enough funds to local districts, especially those with low property values.
Charter school funding. I am already paying for my local district, but now I am paying for charter schools, too.
The cost of personnel. Wages, health insurance, pensions, and more are all going up.
School districts are not spending their resources wisely.
The whole school funding system in Pennsylvania is wrong. The system is broken.
