Just days after being swept by the American League’s worst team, the Pirates have taken two in a row from the AL’s best. Greg Brown has the recap of another Bucco win.
Manager Don Kelly says the Pirates have replaced last weekend’s poor performance with some excellent work the last two nights.
Kelly says pitching sets the tone and he has a top-flight rotation.
The Pirates have signed top draft choice Seth Hernandez. He gets a $7.25 million signing bonus, a record for a high school pitcher.
He got to chat with Paul Skenes yesterday and says he’s ready to start his pro baseball career.
Hernandez turned 19 years old last month. He’s the Gatorade National High School Player of the Year. The Pirates got him with the sixth overall draft choice, even though he was rated the number two prospect in the draft by Baseball America and the number three prospect by MLB Pipeline.
