Donald “Don” Gerber, 84, passed away at his residence in Indiana, PA, on Saturday, July 19, 2025. Born in Creekside, PA, on February 8, 1941, he was the son of Thomas and Helen (Rolls) Gerber. He was a graduate of Indiana High School. In 1960, he enlisted in the Air Force and was a dog handler at Castle Air Force Base in Merced, CA. On August 12, 1961, he married his high school sweetheart, Marjorie Lias.
After being discharged from the Air Force, they returned to Indiana where he worked at McGill Motors, and then Keystone Power Plant, where he retired from in 1999. After retirement, Don and Marge moved to Melbourne, FL, where they resided for 25 years before they returned to Indiana in 2024.
He had a love of motorcycles, auto racing, reading, and golf. He always started his day with Wordle and was an avid crossword puzzler. He was a supporter of all his grandkids’ sports endeavors, having frequently attended baseball, softball and volleyball games. The family is grateful to have recently all come together to celebrate the marriage of his youngest granddaughter, Lauren, at her wedding.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marge, son, Rodney, of Indiana, daughter, Barbara (Edward) Peightal, of Annville, PA, three grandchildren, Nick (Alexandra) Peightal of Annville, PA, Natalie Gerber (Kyle Bayram) of Pittsburgh, PA, Lauren (Aaron) Brooks of Raleigh, NC, and one great-granddaughter, Rory Peightal. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Jack and Gary Gerber.
The family is having a private service at a future date.
