Indiana fell behind 3-0 but rallied for eleven unanswered runs to knock off Canada 11-3 in their first round game at the Junior Little League Softball World Series in Kirkland, Washington yesterday.
Ella Worthington had two hits and threw six-and-one-third innings of scoreless relief, striking out nine, and catcher Sophia Boyer clouted a grand slam, one of her two hits. Aunika Reese had two hits and six other Indiana hitters had one hit each. Claire Brewer’s two-run single in the second put Indiana ahead for good, 4-3. The lead had grown to 6-3 when Boyer sent a line drive over the fence for the grand slam in the fifth inning. She also threw out two runners at second base.
Indiana will play the West champion, California, at 4:30 this afternoon.
