It has been nearly a full month since the PA Budget deadline and there is still no spending plan in place.
State Senator Joe Pittman said in a post on Facebook that discussions are continuing in Harrisburg to get closer to a budget that is fiscally responsible and that everyone can agree to. While sticking points have included the regulation and taxation of “skill games”, the legalization of recreational marijuana, Pittman said that another central focus is “the broad issue of the structural deficit and figuring out how we can put Pennsylvania on the best trajectory going forward.”
State Representative Jim Struzzi said in an interview that it’s hard to say when a budget will be ready.
He added that the overall spend number is the biggest issue currently on the table.
He also said that while there have been no official voting sessions, there are still frequent discussions being held to move towards completion.
