After a summer of workouts, IUP opens training camp today at George P. Miller Stadium. Coach Paul Tortorella begins his eighth season as head coach, his thirtieth season at IUP, and he does so with a new offensive coordinator – but certainly a familiar name – in Frank Cignetti Jr. (see Jack Benedict’s interview with Cignetti)
IUP was 7-3 last season and was picked second in the PSAC West in the preseason coaches poll, finishing one vote shy of Slippery Rock. The Crimson Hawks return seven All-PSAC players.
IUP’s first three games and six of its first eight will be at home. The first game is against Ashland on a Thursday night, September 4th, at Miller Stadium.
