Genevieve “Esther” (Spiker) Lydic, 95, passed away at Heritage Grove in Indiana on August 8, 2025. She was born on June 6, 1930, in New Castle, PA, to the late Harvey A. and Mary P. (McConnel) Spiker. Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Alvie D. Lydic, on November 10, 2002; they were married on November 20, 1953.
Esther graduated from New Castle High School and later graduated from Transylvania Bible College.
She is survived by her children, Dean A. Lydic and his wife, Sally; Dale E. Lydic and his wife, Carolyn; and Debbie Dixon and her husband, Warren. Esther is also survived by her four grandchildren: Danielle Lydic-Redman, Deana Neal and her husband, Tim; Jeremy Dixon and his wife, Caryn; and Justin Dixon.
Esther was dearly loved by her great-grandchildren, Nathan Redman, Bradley Dixon, Conner Dixon, and Morgan Dixon.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Alvie D. Lydic, Esther was preceded in death by her five brothers: Albert, Wesley, Harvey, R. Clifford, and Donald, and her four sisters: Jenny Beight, Freda Hudspath, Virginia Caliern, and Anna Mary Hawk.
