Officials say that the fire that destroyed a duplex in Cherryhill Township has been ruled an arson.
The fire was reported at 12:32 AM on Monday at a converted house on South Harmony Road. The fire destroyed the building, but it was vacant at the time. No injuries were reported. Crews were on the scene for several hours on the first call, then called back later that morning as the fire rekindled.
This marks the third arson in less than a month in the Township. Early Sunday morning, a storage building at Pikes Peak Nursery burned down, and in mid-July, the former kitchen and social hall at the Eastern Orthodox Church complex off Route 422 was also destroyed by a fire. Both of them were also intentionally set.
The Cherryhill Township Fire Department is offering a $5000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person or group that started the fires. Anyone who can help can call state police at 724-357-1960.
