A cell phone outage on Monday is being blamed on a fire intentionally set in Cherryhill Township.
Verizon officials said that the outage that affected wireless customers in Indiana County was due to a house fire that was reported that morning at the corner of South Harmony Road and Route 422. The outage prevented cell phone calls until about 9:00 that night.
That house was the third in three arsons within a month’s time. The first one was at the kitchen and social hall building on the Eastern Orthodox property in Cherryhill Township in mid-July. The second fire was at Pike’s Peak Nursery as a storage building was destroyed.
A $5000 reward continues to be offered by the Cherryhill Township fire department for information leading to the arrest of those responsible. You are encouraged to call state police at 724-357-1960 to submit a tip.
