Last night, Clymer Borough Council approved removing the “acting” title from their police chief.
Council approved Borough Manager Sonya Schrenkel’s decision to appoint Adam Lewis as the new full-time Chief of Police. He was hired by the department as a part time officer in March of 2023 and was promoted to full-time two months later. He was named police chief after Charles Waller, Jr. resigned after allegations of simple assault, harassment and strangulation came up for an incident in June of this year.
Council also approved a payment of $81,800 to Stash Contracting for brush clearance along the Two Lick Creek stream bank. This will help move water more efficiently through the borough. Also approved was a new garbage hauling contract with Hugill Sanitation, which begins at the end of the contract with Waste Management. Schrenkel said the borough will save $50,000 by going with Hugill.
The next meeting is planned for September 10th.
