The Associated Press yesterday released it “All-Time All-America” football team, chosen by twelve AP sports writers who sifted through almost 2,000 players named All-American since 1925.
Three Pitt Panthers made the first team: Wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, tackle Bill Fralic, and defensive end Hugh Green. Running back Tony Dorsett made the second team, beaten out for first team by Barry Sanders and Herschel Walker.
Pitt and Ohio State had the most players named first teamers and the most overall. Each had three on the first team and one on the second team.
Amazingly, no Penn State players made either first or second team.
