A film made by an Indiana native on the life of a Pirates legend will hit theaters next month.
mTuckman Media will release the film “Clemente” on September 12th. The documentary was directed by David Altrogge through his Vinegar Hill film company. It features interviews with members of Clemente’s family, his teammates on the Pirates, and others who were fans of him, including Bob Costas, Yadier Molina and Rita Moreno, along with rare interviews with Clemente himself. It also highlights his work on humanitarian and social justice efforts. In a statement from the film company, Altrogge said that while people know Clemente for his on-field prowess, he also did his best to help the downtrodden and poor. He wanted the film to show that “an act of kindness, no matter how small, can change the world.”
The movie won the South by Southwest Documentary Spotlight Audience Award in 2024, and was screened in Indiana in August of 2024.
