Residents of Indiana can expect some extra traffic this weekend for the first of two move-in weekends for IUP.
The university says about 800 new students are expected to move into campus today, with another 650 expected on Sunday. Much like the last four years, the new student check-in process will be a one-stop operation. All students, whether they are commuters or living on campus, will start at the KCAC at individually scheduled times between 9-3 today and 10-2 tomorrow. The process is designed to complete any administrative needs before the students move into the dorms or campus apartments. Navigators will also be part of the event, greeting and helping students and their families along with employees and continuing students.
New student Welcome Week begins next Monday, and will offer academic meetings, informational programming, and opportunities for students to get familiar with campus and the surrounding area. This includes the Talon Walk next Thursday starting at IRMC Park at 7th and Philadelphia Streets, where students will become familiar with the downtown Indiana area.
Returning students will be back on campus next weekend, and the university is planning a special Crimson Carnival Block Party at the KCAC Parking lot to kick off the 150th anniversary year for IUP.
