The Pittsburgh Pirates broke their five-game losing streak yesterday with a victory over the Chicago Cubs. Greg Brown reports.
The Pirates and the Cubs are back in action this afternoon. Mike Burrows will start today. He is 1-4 with a 4.66 ERA. The Cubs will send Shota Imanaga, who is 8-5 with a 3.19 ERA. Airtime is 1:55 on WCCS with first pitch scheduled for 2:20.
Prior to the game yesterday, the Pirates did make some moves to bolster the bullpen, recalling righty Colin Holderman and lefty Evan Sisk from Triple-A Indianapolis, while optioning rookie Cam Sanders and designating Ryan Borucki for assignment. This marks Holderman’s return to the lineup since May 20th when he was put on the injured list with right thumb inflammation. He remained in the minors after his rehab assignment ended. Sisk was acquired from the Kansas City Royals in the Bailey Falter trade last month.
