The Altoona Curve picked up a come-from-behind win over the Richmond Flying Squirrels 5-4 yesterday.
Altoona’s offense picked up 11 hits and drew three walks against Richmond’s pitching staff. Richmond built a 4-1 lead through three innings, but the comeback attempt started in the fourth as PJ Hilson hit a solid RBI single to make the score 4-2, and in the 6th, Javier Rivas doubled and scored on a wild pitch. With a runner on in the 7th, Nick Cimillo hit the go-ahead homer, his 14th of the season, to put the Curve ahead for good.
Allesandro Ercolani lasted five and a third innings, striking out six and scattering four hits while allowing 4 runs. Altoona’s bullpen covered the final 3.2 innings and allowed only one hit and two walks.
The two teams play again tonight with Blake Townshend starting for the Curve.
