Two members of Indiana Borough Council are saying that the proposed ordinance concerning wearing face masks to prevent the spread of Covid-19 is being done for the health and safety of the community.
The proposed ordinance is on the agenda for Tuesday’s Borough Council meeting, and according to council president Peter Broad, rules for wearing the mask are not new to the borough.
Council vice-president Gerald Smith said the ordinance will bring the borough in line with other entities concerning mask rule enforcement, like IUP and the Indiana Area School District.
Smith also encouraged residents to visit www.togetherindiana.com to find out more about the ordinance and the borough’s efforts to help prevent the spread of Covid-19.
The comments came after more than 700 comments were made on our Facebook page concerning the ordinance connected with stories posted over the weekend on the topic. Those against the ordinance are planning a rally on Tuesday at 5:30 in front of the Borough’s offices. The meeting on Tuesday will be held virtually starting at 7:00 PM.
