“HERSHEY” FILM PROPS, SET PIECES TO BE SOLD IN AUCTION

An auction company from Westmoreland County is handling the sale of props from the production of the new Milton Hershey bio-pic.

Filming for “Hershey” took place in nearby Westmoreland County and in Fayette County and other locations across Pennsylvania.  The auction will include many of the props and set pieces used in the film ranging from tin signs to curio cabinets, desks to oil lamps.  Bids will be accepted online through the Brian Carey Auction website.  Bidding for the first group of items will end August 27th starting at 8:00 PM with two lots ending each minute.  Bids for the second group of items must be in by August 28th, and will follow a similar format.

A preview day is scheduled for August 24th from noon to 4 at their facility on 175 Cornell Road in Blairsville.

Raising Property Taxes

For a variety of reasons, many school districts are raising property taxes this year.  What’s to blame?

Inflation overall. Everything is more expensive, including running schools.
The state does not provide enough funds to local districts, especially those with low property values.
Charter school funding. I am already paying for my local district, but now I am paying for charter schools, too.
The cost of personnel. Wages, health insurance, pensions, and more are all going up.
School districts are not spending their resources wisely.
The whole school funding system in Pennsylvania is wrong. The system is broken.
