Two Pirates pitchers who have been out with arm miseries since April have begun rehab assignments in Bradenton. Tim Mayza and Justin Lawrence both pitched and faced four batters last night, with Mayza giving up two hits and striking out one in two-thirds of an inning and Lawrence walked one and struck out the side.
The Pirates also have released left-hander Ryan Borucki after designating him for assignment last week.
