After a year, an Indiana jewelry store will reopen today in a new location.
Luxenberg’s Jewelers will hold a ribbon cutting today at their new location at 621 Philadelphia Street, one block away from their former location. Last August, a broken water pipe damaged the showroom at the 700 block of Philadelphia Street. Less than a week later, a hot water tank ruptured, sending water into the sublimination print shop part of the business. The two incidents forced a closure of the Downtown Indiana location and the move to the former PNC Bank building. Co-owner Jeff Widdowson said that at the time of the incidents, they didn’t know how they would be able to move forward.
Much of the stock that was not damaged was moved to their other location at the Indiana Mall. Co-owner Kipp Redd said having the other store was a good thing.
The store will open today at 10 AM, and a ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at noon. We will broadcast from Luxenberg’s starting at 11:00 today on WDAD and U-92.5 FM.
