IUP’s vice president for student affairs took part as a panelist for a state-wide Higher Education Summit earlier this month.
The panel that Dr. Thomas Segar took part in was on “Shaping the Future of Education in Pennsylvania. It focused on the rapid transformation of the college and university landscape, including how changes in demographics, workforce needs and economic pressures influence institutional planning and state-level decision-making. Another topic discussed was how the state government is partnering with community and technical colleges to expand access, adapt programs to meet labor market demands and respond to declining enrollment.
Over 150 people took part in the discussion, including legislators and higher education leaders. The event was sponsored by City and State Pennsylvania.
