As classes start next Monday for IUP, several activities to kick off the new academic year will be held this weekend.
The weekend will kick off with an opening of the academic year program at 9:00 this morning at Fisher Auditorium. The program will feature remarks from IUP President Dr. Michael Driscoll, IUP APSCUF Chapter President Dennis Frketich, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Laura Luetkehans, and other university leaders.
On Saturday and Sunday, returning students will move back in. There will be a Crimson Carnival Block Party for students at the KCAC Saturday from 1-4 and the 150th Anniversary Carnival Event in the KCAC Parking lot which is open to the public will follow from 5-9. During the carnival, the IUP Marching Band will hold its Friends and Family concert at 5:45 PM at Miller Stadium, and fireworks will end the event at 9:00.
