Jury selection is scheduled for a few trials in Indiana County Court today, including one for a man charged with vehicular homicide while driving under the influence.
Police said 36-year-old Joshua Brink was behind the wheel of a car that killed 52-year-old Douglas Dallesio in August of 2021 when he veered off Barnard Road in West Mahoning Township. As he over-corrected to get back on the road, he allegedly hit Dallessio with his SUV while the victim was mowing grass on a lawn tractor. Dallessio was flown to Allegheny General Hospital where he later died. Brink fled the scene after the crash, but police found him later on.
Jury selection will also be held today for a woman charged with keeping over 30 miniature poodles in deplorable conditions. State police charged Manilla Mae Shirley of Black Lick in connection with an investigation that started October 8th, when 31 dogs were found living in deplorable conditions. Each dog was rescued and were adopted after they were nursed back to health. Shirley is charged with 30 counts of failure to adhere to vaccination requirements and a single count of unlawful operation of a kennel without a license.
