Joseph DeHaven Kirk, Sr., 77, of Home, went to his heavenly Father on Saturday, August 23, 2025. Joe lived his entire life in Rayne Township.
He graduated from Marion Center High School, class of 1967. Joe worked on the family farm throughout high school and full time for two years after graduation. He worked various jobs throughout his life such as Penn Traffic, Season-all, Brady Excavating, Fisher Scientific and Marion Center School District maintenance department for 25 years, however his favorite job was driving bus for Marion Center High School for 37 years. In his free time, he served as Marion Center Band Booster president, and PCC Jr. Week director. Joe was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend. He enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, canning, and mowing his grass.
Joe worshiped with God’s family at the Indiana Church of Christ, where he was a longtime member.
He is survived by his children Melissa Kirk of North Carolina, Joesph (Tracey) Kirk, Jr., of Tennessee, grandchildren Tyler (Mia) Kirk, of Indiana, Kaitlyn (Ben) McLean of Youngwood, Scott and Alex Stahlman of North Carolina, eight great-grandchildren, step-grandson Alex Burns; brothers Sam (Orpha) Kirk, Dan (Debbie) Kirk, all of Home, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Marybelle (DeHaven) Kirk, brother David Kirk, nephew Samuel Kirk, II, great nephews Eddie Peterson, IV and Samuel Kirk, III, niece Brenda Kirk, and nephew Ed Peterson.
Friends will be welcomed on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM in the Bowser Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, and again on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Gordon Wells officiating. Private committal service with the family will follow in Grove Chapel Cemetery.
